Bethany won't be joining class action lawsuit


BETHANY, Mo. - City Administrator Jake Taylor wanted the Bethany City Council to get on board with what could have led to a $1.5 million payout to the city.

Taylor told KXCV/KRNW that the city attorney estimated that's how much Bethany could receive for repayment of court and counseling costs if they joined a class action lawsuit against Purdue pharma for its role in the opioid crisis.

Taylor said the council voted against joining the lawsuit, saying they didn't want to put the burden of the crisis on pharmaceutical companies.
